I SEE YOU…

They were barely 2 and 3 years old… I’d lost my cool, yet again, only this time I stopped and looked at their little faces and realized that they only just learnt how to use the toilet, and that they’re only just learning how to navigate this world - and here I am, yelling at them.

I’d read the books, reached out to the parenting gurus and listened to countless podcasts – and still kept making the same parenting mistakes, and cringing every time I heard myself talking like my parents – in ways I swore I would never do – until I realized it actually was a deeper issue.

I needed to own the legacy of parenting that I inherited, and really look at myself without shame or judgement - and do the work so that I could make different choices.

I was filled with shame – but also resolve. Out of my love for these children, I needed to find a different way of doing this – and that made me willing to do the work.
Doing that work is how I got here and how I uncovered what really needed to change, in order to write a different story for my family.

I am so grateful that we’ve figured this out while my girls are still young, but it is never too late.
